Bruno’s parents fled to South Africa from two Portuguese colonies during the revolutions. There Bruno was born along with his sister. Due to the increased threat and government instability in South Africa, the Coutos moved to Portugal when he was six. With Portuguese as his first language and relatives there they transitioned well. Bruno’s father moved to the United States so his children could graduate in the “prestigious” American school system.
During his first few months in the States a friend invited Bruno to Youth Group at Ringwood Baptist Church. The church sponsored Bruno to go to the winter retreat, at Word of Life, where he accepted Christ. His family started going to church at Ringwood Baptist after that.
A friend from church invited Bruno to work as a counselor at Solid Rock Day Camp. His second year there he started courting Audrey Callahan. While they were dating, Bruno worked as a graphic artist at Rao’s Specialty Foods in NYC, but continuing to work at camp in the summers.
Bruno & Audrey were married May 28th, 2005 on the beach in Ocean City, NJ. That summer Bruno felt God’s leading to work in a children’s camping ministry. Bruno continued his education with some biblical classes at Philadelphia Biblical University.
He and Audrey joined Bridging The World in April.
